I had known there was a Dobb&#8217;s House in Memphis at 3135 Poplar (<a title=\"Google image\" href=\"http:\/\/maps.google.com\/maps?f=q&amp;hl=en&amp;q=3135+Poplar,+memphis,+tn&amp;ie=UTF8&amp;z=19&amp;ll=35.130904,-89.957385&amp;spn=0.001066,0.002194&amp;t=h&amp;om=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Is the building still there<\/a>?) and am always on the lookout for items from that long lost tiki place. What was interesting about the card was that it was a Dinkler property. This ties it in with the Dinkler Andrew Jackson Hotel in Nashville, which had in it the &#8220;Surf Rider.&#8221; I had this card which appears to date from the 1960s.<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" id=\"image339\" title=\"Dinkler\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.swankpad.org\/blather\/\/uploads\/2006\/11\/dinkler-andrew-jackson.jpg?w=450\" alt=\"Dinkler\"  \/><\/p>\n<p>The Dinkler in Nashville was a noted flop house for country music stars. It was demolished some time ago.<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" id=\"image346\" title=\"Dinkler closeup\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.swankpad.org\/blather\/\/uploads\/2006\/11\/dinkler-andrew-jackson-d.jpg?w=450\" alt=\"Dinkler closeup\"  \/><\/p>\n<p>Which came first, the Memphis Dobb&#8217;s House or the\u00c2\u00a0Surf Rider? I don&#8217;t know. If anyone in either city has any knowledge to share, please do. A visit to the library to peek at phone book listings would likely get us further towards the answers. There is a <a title=\"Dobb's Management\" href=\"http:\/\/www.dobbsmanagement.com\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Dobb&#8217;s Management Group<\/a> in Memphis which is owner of the restaurant chain such as it is. I am inquiring to find out more from them.<\/p>\n<p>Also, anyone with knowledge of the Islander which was in the <a title=\"Google map\" href=\"http:\/\/maps.google.com\/maps?f=q&amp;hl=en&amp;q=5751+Uptain+Road,+Chattanooga,+Tennessee+37411-5673&amp;ie=UTF8&amp;z=15&amp;ll=35.008557,-85.210176&amp;spn=0.017083,0.035105&amp;om=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">5th floor of the Uptain Building in Chattanooga, TN<\/a>, please speak up!
