More of an advertizing mailer really. Sugie really seemed to have a way with the celebrities. Beachbum Berry talks a little about this place in his discussion of <a title=\"The Bum on the Masters\" href=\"http:\/\/www.beachbumberry.com\/pastmasters\/\" target=\"_blank\">Ray Buhen, the famed bartender of the Tiki Ti.<\/a>\u00c2\u00a0Ray worked at the Tropics and probably brought those recipes with him.<\/p>\n<p><br clear=\"left\" \/>I was surprised to find nothing on Tiki Central about the place. Tiki Road Trip says that it later became <a title=\"Critki entry\" href=\"http:\/\/www.critiki.com\/cgi-bin\/location.cgi?loc_id=71\" target=\"_blank\">The Luau,<\/a> Steven Crane&#8217;s first tiki bar.<br clear=\"left\" \/><a title=\"Full Menu\" href=\"http:\/\/www.swankpad.org\/blather\/\/uploads\/2006\/12\/tropics-menu-inside-full-al.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" \/><a title=\"Full Sized Menu\" href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.swankpad.org\/blather\/uploads\/2006\/12\/tropics-menu-inside-full-al.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"image\" id=\"image410\" title=\"tropics-full-t.jpg\" alt=\"tropics-full-t.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.swankpad.org\/blather\/\/uploads\/2006\/12\/tropics-full-t.jpg?w=840\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The menu is impressive when fully folded out. It has &#8220;quotes&#8221; from various celebrities about the drinks, including: Bob Hope, Lana Turner, Rita Hayworth, Mickey Rooney, Lucille Ball and Bette Davis, among others.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Apparently many people blatantly ripped off Sugie&#8217;s Tropics.
