Henry Rollins and Black Flag playing at Vic n Bills Deli in Knoxville about 1985. It was a great show till someone grabbed Kira's tit and she quit. Henry was in Knoxville a lot back then. He was dating a girl here. I'm told he was tripping this night. This is before Henry hit the weights!
These gals were dance club friends of mine in the mid-80's. I don't remember their names anymore. At that time, we all hung out at Gabby's on the Strip in Knoxville. They would play a bunch of pop songs, then they'd play 3-4 songs by REM, U2, Violent Femmes, Bauhaus, Tones on Tail or other alternative bands. It was very hostile and fun. That was back before MTV. It was a time when having an earring got you into a lot of fights. It was the height of the Cold War with Reagan. We all had nuclear nightmares.
This is Leslie outside Gabby's. A true original. Former girlfriend of Brian Setzer before the Stray Cats got big and he got too famous for her.
This is Lisa. Back then, she cut and/or dyed her hair every week.
This is my best friend John as he was in the second year of college in the dorm.
Here he is a few years later enjoying Amy's X-mas tree. He was one of the first people to have a rat tail hair-cut. It was very cool at the time, and controversial. His step-mom attacked him physically over it, and eventually paid him to cut it off when he needed the money.
Here's John, Amy and another fellow. I think his name was John Wolf, but I really can't recall. We're at Vic n Bill's Deli.
